Wow. I suppose everyone's seen this:
I don't know if you have heard but we were recently hit with the worst kind of hurt a band could suffer. No one has lost an arm or died of a drug overdose, but we have had to take a huge step backwards. The story is as follows: Four days into tour supporting our fourth record ENGINEDOWN hit a huge snag. Our van/trailer/lives were stolen while we were sleeping in our beds at a Red Roof Inn. The thieves obviously had no idea what they were getting into, or maybe they did. Somewhere in Houston, TX someone is walking around with thousands of Enginedown t-shirts, all our records, merch, equipment, computers -including all photos, artwork, video footage, and paperwork archiving six years of being a band. We have always found our ways out of snags by trying to be positive and remembering that we only do this to share music with others. This obviously is the biggest "snag" we have had to deal with as it has put a quick halt to our goals. We sat in a hotel for three days on cell phone
s (luckily we had those in the room) trying to decide if we could even recover from such a financial and emotional loss. So.............it is now a week later and we are sitting in a rental van with plans to fight the good fight. Yes it has been a huge loss and we owe more money then we can comprehend, but this band is much bigger to us than a financial investment. We still own the music and the shows are still booked for this tour.
The best way to support our band is to buy our new record or come out to the show in your town. In response to numerous requests from people wanting to pitch in financially, we have set up a PayPal account which can be found through this link http://lookoutrecords.com/pop.php?news_id=193. The account name is "email@example.com." Anything helps. In addition to the overwhelming support that we've already received, we have set up this account in order to try to offset some of our $50,000 losses not covered by insurance.
It is our mission right now to play these songs live. We have been looking forward to doing this all year and won't be derailed by some thieving bastards.
We apologize for canceling the El Paso and Tucson shows. We would have much rather been there than stuck in our room at the Red Roof Inn in Houston. We are just excited that we can finish this tour and keep moral up between five friends through such a crazy time. Leaving the haze of the whole experience in Houston behind, we are feeling more driven to play now than we ever have been.
Thanks for caring,
Keeley, Jason, Jonathan, Cornbread and Travis.
That's awful. These guys are some of the nicest in the world and some dipshit douchebag goes and steals their trailor. Fucking awful.
